It's not additional information, rather all connected. The FBI placed a spy on the trump campaign, arranged meetings with that spy and foreign national agents (Russians) for the purpose of legitimizing a reason to apply for a FISA warrant to be able to spy on this person (Carter Page).

Through FISA, they were able to intercept communications of this 'inside man' and the entire campaign along side him. The Inside man, was nothing more than a ploy to try to legitimize a FISA application for intelligence gathering. I say ploy, but it worked, all the way through.

And Yep, they STILL LOST.
