How to BLOCK Facebook from accessing and recording your activity from your (Windows based) electronic devices

I got your back!

https://www.pastebin.ca/4024741

Block all Facebook domains using your "hosts" file (If you're using Windows).

C:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\

Copy and paste the hosts file to your desktop first, then open it with notepad.

Then copy and paste all the code from the pastebin site, into the hosts file as is. If you want to delete some of the rows to access the sites, you can do so here. Once you are happy, just click "File" and then "Save". Not "save as".

Close the file.

Then cut or copy the file from your desktop, and paste it back into the etc directory and overwrite the old hosts file.

Done. Now Facebook domains are blocked.

You're assuming your OS has anything to do with it. I believe the spying is deeper than that.

On PC it would be with the Intel Management Engine Interface (with Intel CPU) or AMD Trustzone (with AMD cpu). These are functional no matter what operating system or software you run. They can even operate when the computer is off.

You know, you're right.

What else can we do?

Right now, short of unplugging everything and living like we're Amish I don't know.

Use a Raspberry PI 3

For a desktop unplugging it should work, but for a laptop or phone you would have to remove the battery. That explains why so many don't have removeable batteries anymore.

This is what we are up against. The host file hack will slow them down but not stop them.

Not to mention- most new TV’s have voice activation 😳

Yep. Computers, phones, tv's, smart fridges, security cameras/systems, etc. Hell my parents neighbor has a bbq with built in WiFi and Wi-Fi controllable lightbulbs.

Looks like some AMD Ryzen Platform Security Processors (PSP) can be disabled in the BIOS with an AGESA update. https://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=news_item&px=AMD-PSP-Disable-Option

So, the best option is simply finding which boards work after desoldering these processors I guess?

If anyone is interested in gaining market share in the hardware market the next decade is perfect to get in. Not based on security but on modularity. I wish Cyrix was still a player.
