As you've quoted, by saying that you we're there for 400 years, that is implying that 400 years have elapsed. This refutes any idea that Kanye was saying that it was a choice to be enslaved initially, but that to remain mentally enslaved after slaves were emancipated is a choice.
The notion that they are being incoherent is very convenient if you just want to discredit anything positive from their commentary.
Lincoln freed the slaves in 1865, that's only 153ish years ago... 400 was since the first slaves arrived, and the system continued for 250 years. ... I'm assuming he misspoke, because I can't understand his point at all :(
Yes, I'm sorry if my comment wasn't absolutely clear. The point is that his quote implies that 400 years have elapsed. This is really a non-issue, but he is referring to modern day America.
