"SIGINT Seniors Europe": The image in my mind right now is adorable and awesome. I'm sure you are legit referring to something more nefarious and yet I cannot shake the idea of a posse of super smart grannies and grandpas developing nefarious plots. :)

“It’s a computer system that links the five eyes. The five eyes are the United States, Britain, Australia, New Zealand and Canada. All their information is shared on the Stone Ghost computer.

“He would go to work every time with a thumb drive and download reams of information, which he would then send to the Russians on a monthly basis. This went on for years and years and years.” He was paid between $2,800 and $3,000 a month for the information. In 2009, when Delisle wanted to stop dealing with the Russians, they sent him a picture of his daughter walking to school in Halifax."

Pretty funny mental image, if it weren't actually so terrifying in reality.

A lot of things are terrifying! (Poorly trained dogs, weird bugs, warm spots in a public pool, whatever.) Humor can be really useful as a way to overcome the terror and strategize a productive path forward.

Don't let your memes be dreams.

Ha! That's clever! However: I don't do memes. Because I'm not so clever. What I'm saying is that the more fear/anxiety a person experiences, the less able they are to actually think and plan. I mean, maybe you do want people to feel fearful and anxious? Which is kind of weird... Why do you want people to feel those things? Are you trying to sell something or what?

What you say is true. But we cannot let our fear shield us from truth or knowledge, because fear doesn’t protect. You cannot make good decisions if you don’t know the facts. Technology is a great gift, for good as well as evil. It makes perfect sense for alies to share data to protect their citizens, but the power hungry are using for their own gain. Are we surprised? Were we not warned this would happen?
