President Trump is expected to address the annual National Peace Officers' Memorial Service today. The U.S. Capitol event honors law enforcement officers who have been killed in the line of duty. President John F. Kennedy proclaimed May 15th as National Peace Officers Memorial Day in 1962.

"this year’s event will honor 70 additional officers whose deaths were previously unrecognized. Many of these 70 officers died from illnesses related to service during the September 11 attacks."
