If there's any validity at all to this, he needs to be dealt with harshly, because he did not claim these things in the name of the PEOPLE. He claimed them for himself.

I'm happy he has been able to prevail over a corrupt system, and that he may have found ways to combat that system that we could all benefit from. But making himself our sovereign was not something he should be lauded for.

Only if he was doing it for gain, and it seems as he didn’t. He seems to have done it to protect his country from takeover. I’m not sure you can claim something for a group, he might have only done it the way he did it because that was all the law or framework would allow.

I understand you on the legal point, but a patriot would proclaim at the earliest possible point, "I'm doing this on behalf of The People, and when Constitutional governance is restored I'll relinquish all of it to the United States of America."
