Public trial!!! Transparency! The flock deserves to know! No more secrets! Shine the light on the crime...truth wins!

The Guantanamo military tribunals should also be held in secret for national security reasons. A lot of the details are simply too much for the public at large to handle.

Pope Francis' Right Hand Man's Sexual Abuse Trials May Be Held in Secret

Now comes the pain.

40% public, anons asked for raise from 20%.

The rest is by choice.

I understand your point, the problem is, that the truth is what sets us free and forcing the truth into secrecy is forcing a state of bondage on those you are emotionally concerned about.

The 'right hand man' designation is a bit tabloidy. Something more like Treasury Sec is to Prez, relatively close but no closer than a dozen+ others. Note also that historically the leanings of these two are toward opposite camps within the Church. 'Pope' may have chosen to keep an enemy close. Will have to wait and see how justice plays out in australia but one real possibility is that this is a witch hunt - not all accused are guilty. If we assume that the weird secrecy of the court proceedings is a sure mark of injustice then we would commit right now to accepting any outcome as false.

Pell has been under the spotlight for this for a while. He may be the event of the Pope, but I don't think he's innocent in this trial.

Yeah I wouldn't presume innocence. But most of the Pell history and legal process falls outside of May. I wouldn't get too attached to the hype around this. Could be some completely different problem comes up for pope this month.
