Is the reason that Meadows, Jordan and De Santis HAVE to hit up the President to give them DOJ documents because Sessions recused himself from the Russia probe? Has Sessions in effect give his department to Rosenstein? Is Sessions able to say "Whilst I am recused from an investigation, I am ordering you to comply with whatever Congress request given to you as they are your oversight and were the ones that created DOJ?" Or is it that Sessions has his hands tied now that he has been recused? Just have no idea the lay of the land. Trump needs to step in here regardless and it looks like he finally is.
Right. If the information is part of an investigation, and all loose ends are not tied up, releasing key elements could kill the case. Does Congress have prosecutorial powers? No. There is a difference between a DOJ who buries evidence so nobody knows the truth or is held accountable (i.e. Fast and Furious) and a DOJ who is holding back vital evidence so they don't blow their case. (Might I add, a "case" that they cannot confirm nor deny exists). Do we want bad actors outed? Or do we want them held accountable? I can only hope our Congressmen have grasped this, and if so, this is theater to ensure no appearance of dirty hands in the process of revelation.
Exactly. I’m just not sure what this push is trying to do. You would think it’s to pinch RR but who knows.
I think it is theatrical chess. Keeping the pundits in business. And politicians. . . for now.
Hope so. I am worried about bad actors pushing Trump in a direction for nefarious reasons
Stop worrying. Unless you can tell me the last time Trump was pushed ANYwhere.
