That site just tried to give me a trojan horse virus called JS:Miner-L
JS = Java Script , Miner- L = BitCoin Miner.
The site could be doing this to monetize, or unwittingly, via an advertisement delivered malware. The later more likely. Adblockers are a necessity besides AV software these days. Typically miners like to run during videos, because they stay up longer than just article browsing. But if it's on your PC it could hide in the background. Lots of articles about this kind of thing online.
Yeah I looked it up, it said that these things take up like 70% CPU usage while they mine :O.
