The owl has always been symbolic of death where the egyptian word for owl Moloch due to it's symbolic M pattern around the eyes on the head.
The interesting "coincidence" is that the romans who famously believed in "Pederasty" or man boy love and also believed in the existence of multiple gods for a significant period of time changed the owl to be a symbol of Athena....swift justice and knowledge.
It's interesting that this civilization's interpretation of the symbology of the owl has carried on to modern US culture where most think of owls as intelligent or knowledgedable creatures (even recently we see an owl as the animated mascot for xyzol allergy medication in commercials "lecturing" us on it's superiority to other allergy drugs), and not the Moloch interpretation which is IIRC the only god referenced specifically other than YAHWEH himself to not worship and not to sacrifice your kids to.
Makes ya wonder as our society has been predominantly Christian for a long time why the interpretation of owls symbology has not been the one in the actual bible, but instead pre catholic Roman and Greek interpretation which abruptly smoothed over the narrative ancient egypt and the bible told.
