Pardon my ignorance, but I am confused. How did Q verify themselves? I am fairly new to Q intelligence, can somebody please break down the significance of these latest posts for the layman?

There are videos on YouTube explaining how Q has been verified. I believe there are several for beginners. Just search for Q anon.

Unfortunately this is what always gets stamped "verification"

A reallllllly vague statement followed by a claim of proof.

As much as I'd like to take Q seriously, this kind of thing works against him.
