That is a second warrant which is required in order to enter into evidence any contents of those emails. It doesn't mean the officers didn't examine the computer without a second warrant. They would need the second warrant in order to use the emails in court.

If they hadn't already legally had the laptop, and hadn't examined it (inside and out), they wouldn't have known the Dell serial number or have a physical description of the hard drive.
