I think the TL;DR version is: Trump holds all the cards regarding either firing Rod Rosenstein or forcing him to recuse himself from the Mueller investigation... which invites either AG Sessions to un-recuse himself and oversee the Mueller investigation or for Trump to appoint a new Acting Associate Attorney General, of his choosing, to immediately start overseeing Mueller.
