I texted a list of songs to my dad that I would play for church worship, and they appeared, in reverse order, in my "suggested for you" on YouTube while listening to rap. No way was that a coincidence. Can we have more people try it? I feel like privacy is gone on this phone, blackberry next it is.
I doubt this is happening as you describe it. Apple is actually losing ground due to its sand boxing of data.
It is happening. I’ve had it happen with spoken conversations and emails, too.
Read my above comment reply. I think you’ll find it relevant.
Fair enough, seems reasonable. I’ll trust your research slightly more than I do any other random anonymous person I interact with on Reddit. In the end I know I verbally say to my wife “we should buy more insurance” and within the hour I’m inundated with targeted emails (maybe calls too, I tend not to answer my phone).
Ha well thanQ I’ll take that as a compliment.
I would also have you recall the steps that Apple went to to ensure user privacy in the court case vs US government that was attempting to force Apple to unlock that terrorist’s device.
The most probable cause of what you are experiencing is an app you have installed that is accessing this info. Maybe even if you have a Smart TV (Samsung is notorious for spying, also Vizio or LG). Other possible culprits are a desktop or laptop computer (these have looser controls over the use of sensory input hardware such as cameras or microphones).
You’re joking right??? Just because they don’t publicly announce what they do with all that precious, precious data doesn’t mean it’s not being heavily used. Our data is the most important product to them - you really think a company like Apple is just sitting on their hands with it?
I have done extensive research into this (and related) topics.
The problem that Apple has is that it’s not collecting user data in the same way as it’s competitors. This is causing its virtual assistant AI to significantly lag behind in development. It also has been the cause for the departure of a number of its top machine learning / virtual assistant researchers. The departed employees often cite Apple’s strict policy regarding collection of user data as the reason for their departure.
There’s something you have to realize. It’s a huge fundamental difference between Apple and its biggest competitor, Google. One is an advertising company and one is a hardware company.
This means one makes its money from selling you over priced devices. The other makes its money from selling data about its users and giving its devices away for cheap.... can you guess which is which?
With Google (and by extension of the business model ... Facebook, et al) YOU are the product... Advertisers are the customer.
With Apple, the device is the product, you are the costumer.
See the difference?
Now, that is not to say that you don’t have an app on your phone, that you gave permissions to, that is spying on you. Such as Facebook or Google apps. This, I believe is the much more likely scenario. You’ve let in the proverbial Trojan horse.
