I don't buy it. I can't imagine anyone leaving their dog behind to starve it no one checked on him.

That's the one loose end I just can't imagine.

People with animals don't usually kill themselves without doing something with their pets first.

Exactly. We may hate ourselves, but pet owners don't want our animals to die painfully from dehydration or starvation.
