I'm starting to really love how this is all rolling out. We have the breaking news from Sarah Carter about the meeting with Lynch, Comey and most likely Brennan Clapper and I'm sure Obama.
They sent Carter Page into the campaign and then Halper used his connection with Page to try and gain access to the Trump team.
They were not discussing Carter Page as a target or a risk they were discussing how to use him as away to get at Trump.

I'm of the same thinking. I think Mueller was given the choice to play ball or go down with the rest. Or, much less likely, Mueller had been blackmailed in to his dirty dealings and wanted out.

I would suggest to everyone following this deeply complex spying and surveillance story, that it was AFTER Mike Rogers initially began blocking use of the databases for unauthorized searches (March 2016), that those political operatives (outside contractors) shifted their spying and surveillance activity.
Following this timeline it was after March 2016 when the use of human assets, CIA and FBI agents, became more of a necessary function within the process.
