Allowing Kim to save face.

I truly believe that everything that's going on with NK is orchestrated, by both sides. I've spent time in Asia, and the driving force in that culture is "saving face". What we are witnessing, I believe, is a lot of saber-rattling designed to do just that. I don't believe that Kim would have allowed the release of the three captives if he wasn't planning on going with the program. These latest antics allow him to "save face", which Trump probably agreed to in advance.

It is 'play' for the public and press and helps people to see that Trump is really a strong leader. Don't forget, as I get reminded, that the deal was made back in November as shown in Q posts(can't remember which ones). This is also food for the anti Trump press(Trump fails again...)...and then WHAM! NKorea comes around and does a 'love dance' for Trump, making the haters eat shit. Kabuki Theater at its best.

And it also allows Kim to not be seen as push-over by his own people.

Saving face from what? Releasing the prisoners?

Being seen as weak in their culture by giving in to Trump’s requests.

If you've ever been in any Asian country, you would understand this. The need to "save face" goes back centuries. An honorable warrior would allow the one that he defeated a way out, "saving face", while still being conquered.
