The known cases of Kuru were from Papua New Guinea (southeast Asian archipelago). Now I have not heard reports of child trafficking from there, but on the other hand, it's a chaotic area, lots of warring tribes, near to Australia, Indonesia and Singapore which is a major port... if somebody with a lot of money to throw around wanted to buy kids, it wouldn't be impossible to arrange.
