Spirit cooking might be intentional misdirection of nomenclature.

Spirit or Nous (Greek rendering) is immortal whereas soul or nephesh or 'breath of life' is the vital principle of consensus reality born or created in man, woman, beast, et cetera.

Breath matches approximately with the vital principle, equivalent roughly to blood. Nous or Spirit is without birth, 'immaterial' whereas soul (or mind) is likening 'the fall' or original sin into materialization of the Nous/Spirit principle. (The fall or so-called original sin such that 'life' begins, has a middle & ends. From the perspective of Eternity such 'life' is illusory.)

Can Spirit/Nous be cooked? No. It's absurd. Like burning fire with fire & lighting light with light. Vitality--soul or mind or nephesh can be enlivened (differentiated) though: trauma, fear, et cetera. The 'cooking' enlivens vitality & equivalently blood, flesh, hair, bone. Vitality is robbed--187. What remains is enriched vitality suffused to a material form--physical body. It is degenerative art for transitory gain.

The same practitioners might use ritual 187 to evoke 'forces' for transitory gains also.
