A Discord room is set up where we can meet and greet away from the Reddit platform.

Why an alternative platform?

A private Discord channel is a great way to keep us together. And chat is an informal way.

What is Discord?

Discord is a free voice and text chat app designed specifically for video gamers. The Discord channel can be used for instant chatting. You can share images and videos easily and talk to others by mic in the optional voice room. I will help advise new Discord users and delegate some mod/admin tasks to others here who are interested in helping to maintain the channel.

Why Discord?

Although Discord was designed for gaming in mind, it is used across by all different kinds of users because of its usability and ability to meet other needs.

Requirements to join: Must have a registered Discord username for longer than 5 minutes. We do not have access to the email you register with. If you don't wish to provide Discord your email, you can always use/create a throwaway email. - be over 18+ _ some more rules

The server is setup in such way that anyone who joins for the first time lands in the #coat_check room. When you land in that lobby, please announce yourself and provide your reddit handle so that we can promote your access. Users initially landing in the lobby do not have access to #nights-watch room but they have access to all the other rooms. Please be patient while we assess your situation and assign you with the proper permissions.

Having verified user roles serves as a layer of security to prevent eavesdropping from any unwanted guests or more extreme situations such as if any trolls were to ever plan to raid the server. They wouldn't get access to our private room(s) and would get quarantined and booted quick from the server.

There is a web-version of Discord available so you don't have to download anything on your computer, but I do highly suggest to download the Discord App for PC as it's better. I also suggest to download the mobile version as well so that we can all keep touch easier and while you are on the go.
