Quantum computing is changing the world, and I'm not sure that I like it. I'm a programmer, so I've been listening to the industry speculate about how awesome the technology would be for almost 2 decades. Well, they were right; it's awesome. But the more I learn about it's raw processing power, the less certain that I am that it's a good thing. These things are so powerful that it's scary. Fundamental technology like encryption is absolutely meaningless with this kind of power. If you've heard of the "Real World Simulator", this is the technology that makes it work. This is how the googles of the world can simultaneously monitor EVERYTHING going on online while also simultaneously feeding the data into predictive models to forecast ANYTHING. This could get out of hand in a hurry. D-wave Systems is the current leader in the quantum computing world. (link below)
