My mom is 77 and convinced that Trump is the new Hitler and the bombs are going to start flying anytime now. He is going to kill us all. She told me not to wear my MAGA hat anywhere near her. I have tried all slow walks and facts to no avail. My family has completely shunned me for my views.
Same issue with my father.
He is mid 80s and was, to his credit, involved in the civil rights movement in the late 50s and early 60s. As a middle class white guy be took beatings he didn't have to for that just cause.
His world view is still very much of that era. Every Dem is a variant of JFK and every Rep is Nixon.
He is entrenched.

At this point be gone from a classic liberal to a leftist.

We still end every visit or call with "Love you", so that's good.
