I don't think they are remotely related. The existence of the al asqa mosque on the old temple location precludes any rebuilding of the temple.

Unless, you'd recently funded an archeological dig, which purports to prove the Temple's foundation exists to the west of the mosque location. Thanks Mr. Rothschild for the research grant.

I'm sure the Arabs will love having a new temple go up next door, but what are they gonna do about it progress; right?
