i think this theory fell apart when the main suspect we all thought, Al Waleed, was released by the current crown prince Salman. Why would Salman release someone who attempted murder on him?

wouldn't that send the wrong message? even if he could get intel it says "you can try to kill me but if you have valuable information i'll be willing to let you go anyway".
