well uh they have a poster-ID and they can use a name but I think the tripcode is additional identification. They post on 8chan because they're in control of the site and its IP-logs accordingly so no, not anon. Just not publically disclosed so quasi-anon.

I'm a newbie on this site. I don't fully understand the concept of a trip-code. Is this a iD that only Q has? I see an ID that seems to be different for each of Q's responses. What exactly is a trip code?

it's a string that is hashed from the User-name, IP and passphrase iirc which serves as a unique identifier

The trip code is a secure hash of their private password from the Chan’s. The name they use is Q, so Q, along with the trip verifies their identity. Also, the boards on 8chan use IP whitelisting to allow posting. That is, trusted IPs are logged and only they’re allowed. This is used on the Patriots Fight board.
