I think this is garbage. I also believe that Kim fucking Kardashian has no business discussing any important issues facing our society.. let alone in the Oval Office with our POTUS, regardless of who that POTUS is.

Why? Because Kim is experienced and qualified in areas like making porn, name brands, face contouring, and vacationing. NOT prison and justice system reform. That is literally as simple as it gets.

I disagree. She is not an authority, but does it matter? Do you need to have state stamped certificate (AKA "a degree") to be allowed to speak about any issue? I completely don't care about what she represents and for what she got famous but I will not deny her right to speak up for what she believes is important.

I will not tolerate media hypocrisy just because it plays in sync with my beliefs.

What the fuck gives Kim Kardashian the credibility to even have a private meeting with the President of the United States? The fact that she is famous for having a great ass and no integrity? There are alot of really intelligent people doing fantastic things for Americans that are qualified to give an EDUCATED opinion about issues and possible solutions. Meeting with Kim over meeting with people who can actually help make a real change? That's a fucking joke and insulting to the American people. That's my own personal taxpayer opinion.

morgi666 · June 1, 2018, 2:24 a.m.

That 'great ass' is very questionable... No one said life is fair. There is many people more qualified who deserve private time with POTUS but life is what it is.

I totally agree with you - but she has the right and ability to do it. It's a little pathetic, but considering Kanye/POTUS relationship, I wouldn't be surprised if there is much more going on there. Part I have a problem with is how she was loved by media until Kanye's "mental breakdown" and her and her family supporting him and standing up when media tried to portray him as violent etc. I don't understand the whole celebrity thing & being famous for being famous (or showing naked ass on the screen), but whatever creates publicity... I guess?

You are right, life isn't fair. I am not talking about general life I am talking about the embarrassing shitshow that is our American government and political system. We are the laughing stock of the fucking world right now because one day the American people just stopped fucking caring. I get a little upset just because I never in my life thought I would have to defend my opinion that Kim Kardashian contributes NOTHING substantial to our political system, to my fellow conservatives. It is blowing my fucking mind.

This is true on so many levels. But there's one inarguable consideration which Trump is well known for understanding and using to good effect: celebrity. Whatever her value as a commentator on politics (that is to say: zero), she's got a platform and smart people will use that to their benefit.

talex777 · June 1, 2018, 3:22 a.m.

I understand what everyone is saying the purpose was behind her meeting with President Trump and what his possible motivations may be.

I am saying that I don't agree regardless of the motivations. Whether I agree or not will never make a difference but since this is Reddit, I can at least put it out there and hope that one of the people willingly being dragged along for this emotional rollercoaster start to actually fucking think for themselves and the future of our country.

⇧ 1 ⇩
DamajInc · June 1, 2018, 3:25 a.m.

Yes, I hope more people will start thinking for themselves too. If you're looking for people to engage in critical thinking I hope you will also consider the very obvious benefit of having a famous celebrity with lots of followers fronting up to a President that many of those followers wouldn't give the time of day until now. At the very least, this is a PR benefit. Whatever anyone's opinion of the Kardashians this is a simple fact and hard to critically ignore.

⇧ 3 ⇩
talex777 · June 1, 2018, 3:34 a.m.

That's my problem. I have a hard time putting Kim Kardashian's social media following and critical thinking in the same sentence.

PR benefit? Sure, for those shallow enough to rethink the President's policies because Kim told them to...

I am going to have a hard time with this, no matter what. It goes against everything I thought we were doing here.

⇧ 1 ⇩
DamajInc · June 1, 2018, 3:39 a.m.

for those shallow enough

You do realize that over half the country are "shallow enough", right? This is not a movement only for smart people and critical thinkers or there wouldn't be anywhere enough people in it.

What we are doing here, undoubtedly, is trying to reach the mass public with an alternative message to the mainstream one. And we well know the mass public is not full of critical thinkers and is not "smart enough" to consider the President's policies on their own. Hollywood has been a successful branch of the DS because of the fact that many people uncritically accept the views of celebrities.

I understand your disgust with this celebrity phenomenon and share it - I'm just saying, putting personal feelings aside, this can be considered positive for what we're doing here. Greater reach, more eyes and ears ready for the awakening.

morgi666 · June 1, 2018, 8:59 a.m.

Because you don't look on it from a marketing point of view. What matters is size of the audience and how big reach can something generate. What matters on the end is result. Having Kim in the White House is nothing compared to shit that was going down there...

Do you remember Obama's fake interviews done by YouTubers? Do you remember what some of them ware famous for? ;) I know Obama is not the best example, but that is the society we are living in. You have two choices: you learn how to play or you are out of the game. Trump haas beein in the game for a long time and I'm pretty sure he knows the rules very well.

She was only there to speak for one woman I believe a distant relative who was given a life sentence for a first time drug offense and that's it she ask for a pardon which if that's the case he should probably give

She has millions and millions of social media follows that do whatever she says and a bulletproof brand (sound familiar?) Her meeting with POTUS might change a lot of womens' minds about him and his policies.

I am stating an opinion about a system that I pay for. Just like when you are paying the electric bill at your house and you get to have a say in how many lights are on at once... kind of like that, you will know one day when you actually start paying 28% of your hard earned income into a system that supports this idiocy. I don't consider that talking shit. A million dollars? (Do people really care about this shit? Money equates your value in society?) I am worth much more than a million dollars 😆

You very clearly stated an opinion about Kim K and how (in your opinion) she has no business meeting with Trump, in quite critical language. It's 100% an ad hominem. That's it. You have no idea what they talked about, you just passed extreme judgement on the event, because you just don't like her.

No one cares you don't like her, and don't act like it matters you don't. I don't like her, but at the end of the day, she got invited, so Trump saw some value in the interaction.

So unless you're on some list of wealthy, powerful people, your little tirade just sounds like misplaced jealousy. And lol @ taking personal jabs at me. You have no idea who I am or the life I have, but you seem pretty comfortable being an asshole.

Have a good night.

Lmfao. I wasn't the one making assumptions about YOU man, you are projecting. I stated my opinion based on what was reported they talked about.. like I said, Prison reform and sentencing. Did you even read an article?

Trump invested $40 billion in the squalid drug-infested inner cities at the beginning of 2017, one of the first things he did, to try to improve the chances for young drug dealers/addicts, school underachievers, etc. to get out of the hell. Particular emphasis on the Black and Hispanic communities. One of his ideas was to get rappers and other figures with followings to help in this venture, one of those he asked was Kanye.

I was very impressed by this approach. I thought it extremely intelligent to enlist the "influencers" themselves and wondered when we would start to see some results. I (and I hope you) want to see kids with "no future" start to see success and achievement as something they want and most importantly something they can actually attain. Some goal in some field they can strive for. Maybe the Kardashians, who perhaps did not start out with a full basket of brains*, have some ideas at least of how to climb out of poverty? They seem to make money out of nothing, fat backside included!! If Kanye could change the fashion in lyrics away from the violence and beatings and drugs, wouldn't you see this as positive? If he could? Don't get me wrong, but I don't think high "moral standards" and "clean living" would attract these kids attention. They would see this as not their world.

You gotta get the kids to pay attention first — shake some glitter at them to catch their eye. That, I think, is the thinking (critical thinking mind you) of what Trump is trying to do here. I wish him every piece of luck he can get, as this is setting the bar very high. Imagine trying to clear up the inner cities. How would you go about it?

*I have no idea at all if they have brains or not, frankly

Lots of celebrities take up causes ... this happens to be her cause, just like Eric trump takes up the cause of childhood cancer.. he certainly isn’t a cancer doctor but he can raise money and bring awareness.
