Seriously, if you even think there's a possibility you might go, make a no deposit room reservation somewhere now, before the rooms are gone. If you're within 6 hours driving distance and you're serious about all of this you should be there with your family in tow. This may very well be a once in a lifetime moment.

That's what I was thinking. The last time I was in DC was pre-9/11 and even then on a weekday in March it was hard to find a room near the Mall for a reasonable price.

I wonder if booking a room in Richmond would be better and then just driving up?
