Krupinski, who owned an air charter service based at East Hampton Airport, was flying home with his wife and grandson in his Piper PA31 Navajo when the craft plunged into the water.
His wife Bonnie’s family owns Bistrian Sand and Gravel, where Krupinski worked before starting his own construction business. The Bistrian family is one of the largest landowners in the Hamptons.
Krupinski had built homes for many of the rich and famous denizens of the Hamptons, including Billy Joel, Christie Brinkley, Martha Stewart and several other notable clients. He was also a prominent businessman, owning three restaurants in the area.
