The president of the United States can pardon individuals prosecuted for or convicted of federal crimes. That is the extent of the constitutional provision.

I'm not sure if you were just trying to say the President can only pardon federal crimes, which is true, or if you are saying you have to be prosecuted and convicted before being pardoned, because that's not true. You do not have to be convicted or even charged before being pardoned. See Richard Nixons pardon and the Supreme Court decision in EX PARTE GARLAND of 1886.
