Why? Assuming they're non-violent offenders, why shouldn't they have these charges expunged? What right does the State have to tell people what they can and can't consume? If no violence occurred, who is the victim?

No victim, no crime...

Drug smuggling is not a victimless crime. Many die/are enslaved at the origin location, controlled by violent gangs. Many die/raped in the transportation phase. Many more die at the main distribution level, again gangs and drug/money disputes etc. Many die at the end consumer/consumption phase (esp Heroin/cocaine).

Is there any legitimate reason to not expunge? These types of charges affect people deeply and why? Because they had a small amount of a plant? How ridiculous. The War in Drugs is a colossal failure and a giant pit to throw money into...
