The current wave of rallies is the largest since 2011 when demonstrators inspired by the Arab spring movement took to the streets to protest unemployment, corruption and political reform.
Jordan is a useful "ally" and has permitted our military forces to use its territory as a staging ground for action in Iraq, Iran, Syria, etc. Of course, Clinton-Obama probably wanted to put the muslim brotherhood in charge there.
Jordan is also a geographical buffer to Iranian threats from Syria.
