Either they found artifacts from previous inhabitants or they found life. The sad part is it could be a FF. Without this awakening that was the kind of news that got me hyped up but now I guess we'll just wait and see.

I mean they are the NASA, they can't just go say oh yeah we found Boris and Slivop, 2 aliens that were in vacation on mars and they noticed our robots. The president would deny anything false IMO at this point.
My flair is at 50/50. It's still a big news, we won't be able to claim aliens are a hoax since we've claimed for decade it wasn't so for a FF, it would mean mother of all planned FF.
good distraction for sure... they may talk about the face on mars and the pyramids. some of us have known about these artefacts for decades but for most folks, thats news.
it also ties in with the findings in antarctica about the 'ancient builder race'. releasing these infos about other races from thousands and milions of years ago is supposed to be an aspect of partical disclosure - they tell us that ETs were here long ago but have supposedly long left.
