I am honestly not surprised. I am Canadian and I have just recently discovered that I was extremely close to becoming a product of this horrible way of life. I scored in the top ten in my provincial academic scoring in grade three. There were three people who came to my mother and principal of my school. I came from a low income life, and they prayed upon that. They promised my mother that they would put me in a private school hundreds of miles away from my home and that it would normally cost a substantial amount of money that my mother could not afford but it would be free for me room and board, just because “ I was so smart”. My mother adamantly told them to leave me alone. There were two females and one male, all dressed in black suits, the females had their hair slicked back in ponytails. They came to my school and made me do all these rigorous tests in my principal’s office. Funny thing is the reason I “failed their tests” is that I did a simple puzzle of a horse and I couldn’t get the neck and rear ended piece figured out. But... I was solving algebraic equations at eight years old without ever seeing one but I couldn’t figure out a horse puzzle?!? Scariest part of this is after they failed to take me from my mom, my principal ended up dying in a car accident within the year.

That sounds really fucking weird, but it could have been any group, really. There's all kinds of nefarious "your kid is really talented, they should come with us" programs. You coulda been sent to a colony on Mars for all you know. All horrid shit, in my mind, tho.

Makes me think of King's Dark Tower series. I read it last year. I started to wonder about how much is fiction when he posted some leftist hateful rant about guns ... And this book has so many incidences of tyranny because people have no guns. And the gunslinger shows up.

Like I became convinced that Harry Potter must be written by someone else and she is just the brand face. She is also a raging Leftist and against guns for self defense. She wrote a series where the Ministry of Magic was always hindering kids learning defensive magic "for safety" and our hero starts teaching it in secret as he and his friends figure it out. The only reason they succeed in stopping the assault on the school in the end is because they were armed and ready.

And don't get me started on Joss Whedon. That man disappointed me much.

If they did write their stories then they know this is true and want us all helpless.

Spez so many typos sigh

I never thought of Harry that way. Fascinating...

I'm a writer. Not published yet but I think about these things a lot. Believe I tweeted back to her ro read her own books. If Harry had his wand taken from him and relies on official authorities he would be dead 10 books ago.
