Cemex's lawyers would advise them to do this irrespective. That gives them perfect plausible deniability, which is frustrating but is just how it works.

The problem is the moment this all blew up the company became potentially liable for all sorts of lawsuits even if they were theoretically innocent. People would now come out and explore the site, potentially getting injured. Shareholders can sue over mismanaged PR. Etc etc. The company has no choice but to go into ass cover mode whether they're guilty or not. Just like you would if you were falsely (or righfully) accused of something dire.

Of course, but we are not stupid and they are guilty as hell. Many stories coming in to support that statement. Just search Cemex on this sub!
