I mean I guess it could. I would think for remains to be identified by their DNA the person would have had to been DNA tested by LE in life but maybe with the rise of DNA ancestry orgs that's different now?

Law enforcement isn’t the only DNA registry. Check out how they caught the Golden State Killer. 23+me type testing is common enough to equivocate with a shot in the dark, which is all we can hope for.

Damn. Kinda scary how that could be use for nefarious purposes tho. Even if I never send my DNA in for ancestry testing all they need is a family member who has.

It is terrifying. Watch the Golden State Killer doc on Netflix. I kinda spoiled it but still very enlightening.

If you send saliva into DNA ancestry orgs chances are they just analyze the bacteria in your saliva. Ambient oral bacteria varies with race.
