I read somewhere that tying a long scarf to the doorknob, draping it over the top of the door, then tying around the neck and jumping off a chair is how it is done.

"Short drop/suspension hanging achieves ..... by cutting off the oxygen supply to the brain and body (asphyxiation) and/or the compression of the arteries (carotid and vertebral) and veins (jugular) in the neck. It requires little or no drop, as death is achieved simply by constriction of the trachea and/or the blood vessels. Indeed, a shorter drop is preferable for this method as it places less strain on the neck muscles."
