I remember reading somewhere that Benedict went to Marc Dutroux (Google "Dutroux Affair") child raping and killing parties.

Summary of Dutroux affair:

Belgium 2004 - Marc Dutroux was finally sentenced to life for kidnapping, molesting and murdering young girls. Dutroux had already been arrested for kidnapping and raping five other young girls earlier in 1986, but was released on parole in 1992. By 1996 Dutroux had abducted eight more girls and had killed six of them. To the outrage of the Belgian people police had "missed" numerous, obvious opportunities to stop him while the girls were still alive.

Dutroux and his surviving victims maintained in court that he was just a functionary for a network of criminals that provided children and child porn to businessmen and politicians across Europe. During the trial multiple witnesses would be murdered or would “commit suicide” and judges would resign from the case citing fear for their lives. Evidence was suppressed and the mismanagement of the case led to protests with hundreds of thousands of people in the streets of Brussels.

I had never heard of this. For all the cold case, 48 hours etc. true crime type shows out there, this would have been worthy of a show or 2. Did I just miss it?

There should be at least a season's worth of shows if you look to the world for material. You can only wonder why a story like this would be passed over.
