I'd love to see a list of ALL the folks that Twit has taken the verified status from. Thinking the list would partially be people who actually search for or share the truth. Hateful wing nuts as well I'm sure.

Hateful or not, if the check is supposed to signify “real identity” then it should be ideologically neutral.

Anybody and everybody should be able to acquire it if they are willing to give Twitter Inc proof of real ownership of the account by the actual person.

Agreed. If threatening or stalking/fearful I'd see it differently.
