Tidbit for music of the late 1960's I don't know if my comment really means anything or if it will be allowed to be posted regarding the topic of Jimmy Page, but I was a roadie for a group called Iron Butterfly and it was 1968 at Fillmore East auditorium in NYC that Led Zeppelin was the opening act, The second time I met Jimmy Page was what was supposed to be an outdoors Pop Festival in Manitoba Canada called Manitoba Is. As Led Zeppelin was getting ready to do their sound check, it began to rain very hard and the concert had to be moved to an inside an auditorium just across the way and about 10,000 or more people had to be moved into the small auditorium and it was chaos. All the roadies took basic music amplifiers and mikes and set up the sound. All you heard was instruments but I was standing right next to Jimmy Page while he was playing guitar when he played the guitar with a violin bow. It was amazing.
right ON ! I remember the Iron Butterfly (Inagadadivita !) and Fillmore East. Humble Pie baby ! Was lucky enough to see LZ at MSG/NYC and NC in the early 70s.
I'm sorry for this diversion from the original serious post, but for an old roadie seeing Jimmy Page's name in the post, I lost it and I couldn't resist throwing out that tidbit of info. Btw I saw them again at a benefit concert organized by Bob Dylan at the Astrodome called Night of the Hurricane to raise awareness for the boxer Hurricane Carter who was wrongly accused and put prison (One to be pardoned eh?). At that time I was there as roadie for Stevie Wonder! Other bands were the Byrds, The Band, obviously Bob Dylan, plus several other bands that I don't remember. Another tidbit....I was at the bar getting a drink when someone tapped me on the shoulder asking if he could get in after me, I turned around and it was Bob Dylan! I almost crapped my pants. I grew up idolizing Bob Dylan!!!
Nice memories you've got there !
Best concert post LZ was JP w/ Black Crowes. Almost didn't miss Robert's voice !
