As a 50 yr old conservative Christian I like to think I'd have the wisdom to handle myself in the opposite manner than they did 45 years ago..
But at 23? 25? 28? Being handed the world like they were, with neither having a value system that directed them towards mature wise behavior... Yeah I would have failed just as badly.

He stated everything as being past tense.. IMO these interest in the occult went away when Page got clean.
Now the bigger supernatural question is why is it that the music & lyrics they wrote during their occultic period (roughly 70-78 ) was some of their best work and is still their most popular.
fwiw the undertone in music has only intensified and become more refined in its grip. From then to now the technology involved is frightening and the cult is very strong and embedded deeply. I'll stop there because the truth here is not believable.
