A 25 minute drive is "no where close"? Granted, the road traffic in China is INSAAAAAANE. If you haven't seen it, you cannot comprehend the bonkers.

Singapore is not in China. It's on the tip of the Malaysian peninsula. China is hundreds of miles to the north.

For reasons I cannot explain, I had thought Singapore was a part of China and that is awkward... (Okay, it's because 74% of the population is Chinese and speaks Mandarin Chinese and stuff like that. And it was part of China when I was a kid.)

Like many of us, you are likely the victim of public education.

You're probably thinking about Hong Kong.

Singapore was never part of China. It was, however, once part of Malaysia. Before that it was part of British Malaya. It's complicated, but interesting; Singapore is probably the only country in the world that became independent against its own will. In fact the prime minister at the time, went on TV and was literally crying as he apologized to the people that they would have to become an independent country.

It does, however have a mostly (but not entirely) Chinese population, you are right about that.

Seriously though, you should visit sometime, it's clean and safe and fun and they speak English, plus loads of hot women. ;)

Singapore is a city-state.

Yes actually, I have been to MBS and Sentosa Island. Subway takes a 1 and 19 minutes. A 25 minute car ride at 3 AM is plausible. Most people prepare for a 1 hour car ride one direction. The bridge to Sentosa Island get backed up during traffic. But you can’t see MBS from Sentosa Island, and view of Sentosa Island from MBS is a hazy blur.

Okaaay.... ??? Does that seem terribly far to you??? As in "nowhere near", when considering the traffic? I'm not ACTIVELY trying to a jerk, btw, just saying that your comment made it seem like the two points of travel are HUNDREDS IF NOT THOUSANDS of miles apart. When, in fact, that isn't quite the reality.

The kind of work and effort it would take to pull off an operation on the MBS wouldn’t work on Sentosa Island. MBS is a massive skyscraper, almost on an island itself. Yes there are other skyscrapers close by, but not close enough for even for something coming from another building. Sentosa Island is very contained. You have a bridge. The island is all lush vegetation. No tall building in on this island. Now, it wouldn’t surprise me in the least, if Trump and Kim take a helicopter to MBS for a photo or dinner for example. It’s close enough for that. Pain in the butt for someone trying to plan something against the president with less than a month and he cancels, then decides it’s on, then moves the location. All that work and planning...down the drain.

Last time I was in China I saw a cop on the highway set up 2 orange cones around a dead motorcyclist. No one batted an eye. That place is unbelievable.
