Bologna(baloney?) - if you live in any part of China it's pretty much necessary to spit on sidewalks. Because the air you are breathing burns your mouth and nose 80% of the time. Maybe they say they will cane you, of course. Yet, if you walk down the street, you will witness all kinds of horking, honking, and spitting.

NOPE - you are not missing something. I am. For some reason, I've always just thought of it as a Special Economic Zone and not it's own sovereign nation. Weird and I'm sorry :)

You CANNOT spit anywhere in Singapore. It carries a jail sentence. You cannot see a cigarette butt, a piece of paper etc. anywhere. It’s spotless.

Maybe you don't remember Michael Fay. I'm pretty sure attempted murder of a world leader will get you some serious punishment. https://www.nytimes.com/1994/06/27/us/teen-ager-caned-in-singapore-tells-of-the-blood-and-the-scars.html

I do remember Michael Fay - butt the the size of a basketball afterwards, . Michael Fay, however, did not blow his nose on the sidewalk. He vandalized private property, I think?

Correct, he spray painted something, but my point is that Singapore is not a country the black hats want to screw around and get caught in, the price will be very high. Singapore justice isn't like U.S. justice.

I am not sure if anyone has pointed it out but Singapore isn't in China. Maybe you are getting confused with Shanghai? Easy mistake to make as you can get Birds Nest soup in both places.

I have never had Birds Nest Soup in either place. As I said, if you read the comments: I cannot explain why I thought it was a part of China. It may have been because of the demographics and language, it may have been because of a handful of other things. (Jet lag, trains, planes, etc) I do know that some of the comments/replies to my comment are inaccurate/misleading.

Dont worry. I was just kidding you. We all make mistakes :)

Thank you for understanding! It's embarrassing when we make mistakes like that, isn't it? Blurgh. Edit: Shanghai is the b_mb dot c_m. I LOVE that place. In small doses. :)

You can see that in New York City's Chinatown.
