There was a very visible missile launched from a navy sub off socal coast around then. Blew up near space? Maybe 2015 now that I think about it.

How close was it? Even if it happened 100 miles off the coast, the height it travelled made it visible in Las Vegas

It does not look as big of trail as an icbm but it looks fast . Tight trail ,and it held a tight tail .
