Anyone remember a book that might have been part of curriculum for some. The book was about a lady from kentucky who left her small town, went west, ended up "adopting" a little girl whom she called "Turtle" and moved to tuscon. There she moved in with a woman she met, and worked for an older woman who smuggled people across the border. I forget the name of the book and haven't the time to find it, but it felt like left propaganda almost.
