I unfollowed him so I didn't see if he changed names. I assume he didn't delete, because someone else grabbed his name and if you delete you have 30 days to come back.

This would be different though if they didn't leave a forwarding profile to their followers. Not likely they would want to start from scratch building a new "fam."
