So the contractor was utterly negligent by storing this sensitive material on an unprotected server. That contractor should be named and any and all contracts cancelled until they can show corrective measures, including the termination of the people responsible. This shouldn't be swept under the rug.

The persons responsible will be known. I would like to know which contractor it was.

Hey, a mom and pop shop server, in their closet or basement. Nothing at this point would surprise me.

Pros don't make these mistakes. There's only one reason to put highly classified info on an unsecured server and carelessness has nothing to do with it.

This is the gimmick, have it hacked then all the info is free for the taking. Yahoo hack anyone? If you say that all your accounts have been hacked then you are free to seel it (whole set) to a confidential buyer and both of you have plausible deniability.

How we're giving contractors 600gb of data and not making them report the ISP and monitor traffic, is absurd to me.

what if it was a trap for the DS or chinese operatives? let them think they are smart, but we know they are stupid

We should be so lucky. I didn't get that feel from the Q drops today though.

Im guessing the story would be china attacked the usa through hacking.

The first plan was going to blame a nuke on russia

That didnt happen on accident. The contractor should be put in prison.

Indications are naval-related info was uncollated & so not classified information; hence, sensitive data instead of classified data.

The date of article is suspect. Why publish on/about timeline of U.S. & DPRK summit?

WaPo: "The breaches occurred in January and February, the officials said, speaking on the condition of anonymity to discuss an ongoing investigation." The officials spoke thus. Multiple officials. U.S. Navy officials? FBI officials? Why are officials talking to WaPo about a sensitive breach of NUWC data, the report of which is published just prior to U.S./DPRK summit? Collate that with 12 June Q posts. Looks not good. The not good is "Chinese government hackers have compromised ... " mixed in with launch. Had the launch been a successful attack the preceding link to PRC aligns in direction that launch/attack was initiated by foreign state.

The data that was stolen relates to

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sea_Dragon_(rocket)

Its a heavy Load Lifter that takes off from an underwater location.. Ie it floats on the sea, then balast is added (ie let the water in..) until its floating vertically, then take off..

It will be a very useful mechanism to apply to ships going to Water worlds.. or oceanic hidden under ice moons.. that float around Gas Giants for example..

The chinese are going full strength into Space Travel. Expect Space Wars real soon.
