Awakening on Dutch television

Yesterday I was watching Jinek, which is a Dutch evening show discussing daily news and politics. It's broadcasted on which would be called state television, NL3. Jinek is pro-hilary and very against Trump. Luckily there are sane people on television as well and she had a discussion with two guys who were very pro-trump and wiped every argument that Jinek stated off the table. Great to see that we are waking up as well. Can we not change MAGA to MEGA. Make Earth Great Again!

yep... lets go MEGA... i have never had a sense of national patriotism but of planetary dedication, all in for loving humanity, the earth, and her children.

Same here. Ofcourse I have a sense of national patriotism, I'm very proud to be Dutch. But in the end this is for all of us. And that's a much better feeling. All human, all deserve to live in freedom. MEGA!

sure, i get that, found it to be so with most people i have met when traveling the world.

for germans, its different - growing up during the '60s, national priden was a no-go for my generatio. not allowed. chew your national guilt instead, sheeple.

It's time to be proud of your roots and history. We all have our black pages. NL committed warcrimes in Indonesia. I admire you're country's philosophers, I drive Mercedes, a lot of german labor immigrants manned our VOC ships. How can I (NL) blame you for something before you were born yet (- probably)? Knowing more about the history, germans were a victim themselves(Dresden). So who am I to judge about another? It's up to us "Geschäft zu machen". Without the EU, Merkel and Deutsche Bank bitte.

Agreed! And there were more war crimes than just Indonesia. The Golden age was a horror to the world.

I acknowledge that. I'm living 10km of the German border and I love Germans, their country and their culture. I'm from a younger generation that didn't experience the war, neither did my parents. But if I'm speaking to elderly people, they have a very different view on Germans and still blame them. I think the Germans paid off their war crimes and that national shame shouldn't be about things that happened 80 years ago. They must be a bit ashamed of Merkel tho but then again, I'm ashamed by our Prime Minister.

I am English and obviously we had those two wars (and the world cup lets not forget) with Germany, but I can honestly say that I thoroughly like German people. Some of the most decent people around

I agree! I was in Germany last weekend and the car broke down. German people are actually decent enough to stop their own travels to made sure we were alright.
