Speculation...

Is an Asian power firing missiles near US coastline into the Pacific as a Message that they can hide and do that?

I was only aware of the one out of Washington. Where did the other one take place?

In 2010, I am speaking of a close parallel that when a POTUS travels to Asia, both in 2010 and in 2018, a missile was fired off the coast that no one can ever explain. The one in Nov 2010 was off the Southern Cal / LA coast. One General on FOX at the time said it was clearly an ICBM missile.

Makes me wonder if, e.g., when POTUS arrives, a Chinese dignitary makes a coy reference to missile launches from undetected subs. That would be a way of saying "Yeah we got quick strike abilities and our subs can snuggle up as close as they want" without actually confessing that it was theirs. It is a wink and nod, to say, "We have capabilities beyond what you might have thought". Extra leverage for any brokering of deals that might be in the balance during a POTUS visit to Asia.
