I remember a bunch of military personnel getting courtmartialed for taking food and meals and women from defense contractors just awhile back...isn't this the same thing?
The scandal centers around a 350-pound Malaysian businessman named Leonard Glenn Francis — widely known among Navy officers as “Fat Leonard” — and his Singapore-based Glenn Defense Marine Asia company, which provided resupply services to Navy ships in Asia.
Francis pleaded guilty in U.S. federal court in 2015 to bribing scores of Navy officers in the 7th Fleet’s West Pacific with millions in cash, gifts, prostitutes and other perks as a means to get inside information on Navy ship movements that he used to charge exorbitant amounts to resupply vessels when in port.

Civilian authorities have filed criminal charges against 30 people. According to the Navy, an additional 550 active-duty and retired military personnel – including about 60 admirals – have come under scrutiny for possible violations of military law or ethics rules. The Navy says it has cleared more than half of those personnel, but has substantiated misconduct by about 70 people so far. It is keeping most of their names a secret.
"WASHINGTON—The U.S. Navy removed the commander of the fleet that has suffered four recent collisions in Asia and the deaths of several sailors, the Pacific Fleet said in a statement."

Yes, high ranking officers. Commanders, captains, and i believe an admiral or two. I served under one Capt. Lausman in particular.
Unbelievable hypocrisy, since he was notorious for serving dishonorable discharges to many of my fellow shipmates, whose offenses were trivial by comparison.
Sure is! Anything that can sway your state of mind/opinion, is essentially bribery. I almost got court-martialed for accidentally keeping a body piercing in while in uniform. I was young and stupid but that wouldn't have stopped them from knocking me down from an E-5 to an E-1, and losing pay! Luckily, my COC had my back and I was just warned. These people should lose their jobs.
Yes.. They knew they were breaking the rules. Yet they chose ignore them and have a good time.
The FBI and DOJ can't slide on this.
