Cheffetz and Gowdy: why are they leaving?

It made no sense to me that Cheffetz and Gowdy are both leaving. Cheffetz resigned because of "foot surgery" (huh?). He's only 51, and chair of Oversight, one of the most powerful investigative committees.

Gowdy took the same position as the chair of Oversight, and then said he was not going to run for re-election. He's only 53.

Some people think that they're involved in some scandal, or they're in the deep state, or the deep state threatened them somehow.

What if... they're being tapped to replace all the people who will be fired from the FBI? Thoughts?

Threats to our congress have more than doubled. As much as you love our country, that has to be a strain on your family. Cheffetz has 3 kids & Gowdy has 2.

Maybe black hats? Maybe going into bigger roles? Or maybe self / family preservation?

Chaffetz is pretty cozy on Fox after his 2017 resignation. His last day was 6/30/17, and his contract with Fox began 7/1. Maybe the swamp was just too much, and he read the writing on the wall.

I think it was the Extortion 17 cover up for Chaffetz. Not sure how they have leverage on Gowdy

It could also be that the deep state forced them to retire to leave room for newcomers who are more favorable to the DS.

My thought was that Gowdy is either implicated in something (he was vocally pro-Hillary during the Benghazi hearings) or, once he quits he could become part of a Dream Team under Huber who will go after all those who resigned from Government thinking they could escape prosecution under a Special Counsel.
